I've learned over the years what's important, and what’s not. I have the graying stubble to prove it! I live for my family and friends, and I’m very blessed to have worked with so many I can call true friends. That's what it's all about!
On to why you’re probably here… I’m a Principal/Lead Product Designer, with a diverse set of experiences. Scrappy researcher, workshop moderator, connector of people and ideas, builder of design systems, prototyper, teacher, and student… My latest adventure was as a Sr UX Designer at Bungie, working on Destiny 2. I’ve been a Lead Product/UX designer designing multi-cloud management software, as well as software for the healthcare industry. I’ve worked in oil and gas, airline solutions, business and consumer technology spaces. Feel free to drop me a line and say hello!
Technical skills are easy. The real magic is in making connections that nobody else can, helping others to grok those connections so they can do a better job at what they’re working on. I have lots of great ideas, but so does everyone else I work with. I help draw those ideas out so that we can all benefit and grow in our own unique spaces.
I have vast experience, and my opinions and assumptions are supported by many successes and mistakes made during those experiences. But until those are validated or invalidated by UR, that’s all they are. Opinions and assumptions.
I sometimes have the luxury of time and resources. Collaborating with dedicated researchers and running the most involved qualitative and quantitative tests to drive designs. And sometimes I just have a couple of days time, a few important questions I need answered, a laptop and maybe a printer. Whatever the situation, I do what I can to learn the most I can. I prioritize including others with different skills and points of view to join me in user interviews, data synthesis, and design sketches. Not only do we get much more insight together, I get buy-in from all the disciplines involved in the research we complete.
